Overview
This experiment demonstrates how a relay can be used to control high-current loads safely, such as motors or lamps.
Components Required
- Relay (SPDT or DPDT)
- High-current load (e.g., motor or lamp)
- Transistor (e.g., 2N2222)
- Diode (1N4007)
- Resistors
- Power supply
- Breadboard and wires
Procedure
1. Connect the relay in series with the high-current load.
2. Use a transistor to drive the relay coil, with a diode across the coil to protect against voltage spikes.
3. Control the relay via a switch or microcontroller to turn the high-current load on and off.
Expected Result
The high-current load will be controlled by the relay, switching on and off as commanded by the transistor.
