Overview
This experiment demonstrates how diodes can be used as temperature sensors, utilizing their forward voltage drop to measure temperature.
Components Required
- Diode (e.g., 1N4148)
- Multimeter or analog-to-digital converter
- Resistor (10kΩ)
- Power supply
- Breadboard and wires
Procedure
1. Connect the diode in series with a resistor to form a basic temperature sensor circuit.
2. Measure the voltage drop across the diode, which will change with temperature.
3. Use the voltage drop to determine the temperature, based on the diode's temperature coefficient.
Expected Result
The output voltage will change linearly with temperature, allowing you to calculate the temperature of the diode.
