PWM Control of DC Motor

PWM Control of DC Motor

Overview

This experiment demonstrates controlling the speed of a DC motor using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). By adjusting the duty cycle of the PWM signal, we can control the average voltage delivered to the motor, thereby controlling its speed.

Components Required

Procedure

Follow these steps to set up the experiment:

  1. Set up the 555 timer in astable mode to generate a PWM signal.
  2. Connect the PWM output to the motor using a transistor to control the power.
  3. Adjust the duty cycle of the PWM signal to control the motor speed.

Expected Result

The motor speed will vary based on the duty cycle of the PWM signal. A higher duty cycle will increase the average voltage and the motor speed, while a lower duty cycle will decrease the speed.
