Triac Dimmer Circuit for AC Loads

Overview

This experiment demonstrates how to dim an AC load using a Triac and a phase-control circuit.

Components Required

• Triac (BTA10)
• Resistor (1kΩ)
• Capacitor (0.1µF)
• Potentiometer
• AC Load
• Power Supply (AC 120V)

Procedure

1. Connect the Triac in series with the AC load.

2. Use a potentiometer to adjust the timing of the phase-control and dim the AC load.

Expected Result

The brightness of the AC load will vary depending on the setting of the potentiometer.
