SCR Switching for AC Loads

Overview

This experiment demonstrates the use of a Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR) for controlling AC loads.

Components Required

• Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR)
• Resistors
• AC Power Supply
• Load (e.g., lamp)
• Triggering Circuit
• Breadboard and wires

Procedure

1. Connect the SCR in series with the load and AC power supply.

2. Use a triggering circuit to control the turn-on and turn-off of the SCR based on the AC waveform.

Expected Result

The SCR will switch the load on and off at the desired point in the AC cycle.
